For over 25 years, Jason Barakat has been a financial services leader, entrepreneur, visionary, and philanthropist. His professional life has spanned the financial, insurance, legal, and nonprofit sectors, where he has consistently worked to strengthen organizations and create opportunities for people and communities. His career reflects the belief that leadership is most effective when it combines business success with service.
Jason has developed a strong reputation for mentoring and building partnerships. He has overseen more than a thousand advisors and 60 leaders across Canada, providing them with guidance and opportunities for growth. At the same time, he has helped establish more than 200 business partnerships with associations, groups, and government institutions. Each of these collaborations was formed to expand access to specialized, value-driven financial services that respond to the needs of families and organizations.
Blending leadership, innovation, and purpose, Ghassan has prioritized recruiting and mentoring professionals. Hundreds have benefited from his direction, and many have advanced into leadership positions. His work has been recognized through awards for financial excellence, meeting ambitious performance targets, and achieving profitability and operational efficiency. These results highlight his disciplined approach and ability to create strong, collaborative teams.
Ghassan Barakat's career has also been marked by reinvention. He has worked in consulting, developed new solutions, integrated performance philanthropy, explored opportunities in the legal ecosystem, and led acquisitions. His goal has been to make legal and financial services more inclusive. The principles that guide him, creating both economic and social value, democratizing financial opportunity, and the belief that financial knowledge and legal protection should be available to everyone, are reflected throughout his work.
Jason has demonstrated a unique ability to connect across finance, law, technology, and philanthropy. Whether launching startups, expanding multi-million-dollar platforms, or supporting charitable initiatives, Jason has focused on building sustainable systems that benefit people for generations.
In 2022, Ghassan founded Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc. and continues to serve as its Founder & CEO. Nolos was designed as a Canadian company integrating FinTech, InsurTech, and LegalTech under one platform. Its purpose is to democratize financial and legal services for middle-class families. The platform includes a Quebec-based legal firm, a notarial study, and a national financial MGA distributing protection and wealth solutions from Canada’s top institutions. Under Jason’s leadership, Nolos has expanded through acquisitions and partnerships. Among these was the acquisition of Skylegal in 2022 and the creation of a charitable foundation in 2023 to broaden access to justice and financial protection for families during estate and legacy planning. Most recently, he acquired a technology company that develops software for public and private institutions, further enhancing the B2B capacity of the Nolos platform.
Before launching Nolos, Jason Barakat was a strategic senior consultant, including mandates for Chubb Insurance and other major institutions. From 2003 to 2021, he was President and Principal Officer with AMF of La Capitale Services Conseils. He oversaw increased assets under management from $300 million to more than $3 billion while developing specialized services for Quebec’s public sector employees. In 2017, he became President of La Capitale Financial Security, where he modernized compensation structures, expanded national operations for disability and personal finance solutions, and fostered a culture centered on inclusion and advisory excellence. He also served as President of SSQ Financial Group Distribution, where he modernized retirement financial planning, supported post-merger alignment, and improved compliance, profitability, and client service.
For over two decades, philanthropy has been a central theme of Jason’s life. He has participated in the Guignolet de Saint-Vincent de Paul tradition and supported charitable causes connected to retirement planning and education. In 2021, he partnered with Peartree Canada to help families and organizations enhance their social impact through philanthropic planning. Later, he founded the Nolos Foundation, which is dedicated to expanding access to Justice & Family Legacy Planning. He continues to give back as a volunteer leader on nonprofit boards and through interfaith humanitarian efforts.
Ghassan studied at Concordia University John Molson School of Business, where he specialized in finance, business law, and theology. He has also pursued additional studies in securities, investments, estate planning, insurance, venture capital, and strategic philanthropy, earning certifications across these areas.
Outside of his professional life, Ghassan Barakat is a devoted husband and father of two. His family is his most significant source of inspiration, shaping his values of love, faith, and responsibility. These values guide both his leadership and his service to others. With humility, empathy, and dedication, Jason remains committed to leaving a legacy for his children, community, and future generations.
